These social event dine-to-donate events, also known as profit shares, pizza night restaurant give-back nights, fundraising nights, or spirit nights, are a popular and effective way to reach your fundraising goals with community support.
In this article, we’ll explore the ins and outs of restaurant fundraisers, including how they work, why they are beneficial, and how to plan the best restaurant fundraiser event.
What are restaurant fundraisers, and how do they work?
Restaurant fundraisers involve partnering with a restaurant that agrees to donate a percentage of the sales from customers referred by the fundraiser organization. Diners enjoy a meal, and a part of their bill is donated to support the cause. It’s a delicious way to raise funds!
The Basics of peer to peer fundraising
Restaurant fundraisers are events where a percentage of the proceeds from a designated time period are donated to a specific organization, fundraising team, or cause. These events are typically held at fast-food chains, casual dining restaurants, or local eateries.
The process is simple: the organization or cause partners with a host restaurant venue for a local fundraiser program event, and the host restaurant agrees to donate a portion of the sales from a specific time period to the organization. This can range from 10% to 50% of the sales, depending on the host restaurant fundraisers, major donors, and the agreement made.
The Event
On the day of the event, potential donors, community members, and supporters of the organization or cause visit the designated restaurant and make a purchase. This can include dine-in, take-out, or drive-thru orders, supported by promotional materials, including gift card sales. The restaurant keeps track of the sales made during the designated time period and then donates the agreed-upon percentage of the donation amount to the organization.
Why Are Restaurant Fundraisers Beneficial?
Easy and Low-Cost
Restaurant fundraisers at chain restaurants, including fast food fundraisers and bakery fundraisers, are a family-friendly, easy, and low-cost way to raise money for your organization while also helping local businesses. Supporters can mention the fundraiser at checkout, and there is plenty of time to plan and execute a large event or spend money on supplies to reach your goal, making it a great option for successful restaurant fundraising ideas and a successful fundraiser. The restaurant takes care of the food, service, fundraising plan, and provides social media graphics, and the organization simply promotes the event, shares information on Facebook, and encourages supporters to attend.

Successful Charleston Restaurant Fundraising
Choose the Right Restaurant
The first step in planning a successful restaurant fundraiser is to choose the right restaurant. Consider the following factors when making your decision:
- Location: Choose a restaurant that is easily accessible for your supporters.
- Popular and well-known: Partner with a popular and well-known restaurant in the community to attract more supporters.
- Percentage of sales donated: Negotiate with the restaurant to ensure a high percentage of sales will be donated to your organization.
- Availability: Make sure the restaurant is available on the desired event date and time.
Promote the Fundraising Event
Promotion is key to a successful restaurant fundraiser. Utilize social media, email marketing, and word of mouth to spread the word about the event. Create eye-catching graphics and share them on social media platforms to attract attention and encourage supporters to attend.
Encourage Attendance
To ensure a successful event, it’s important to encourage attendance from your supporters. Consider offering incentives such as raffle prizes or discounts for those who attend. You can also create a sense of urgency by promoting the event as a one-night-only opportunity.
Thank the Restaurant and Supporters
After the event, be sure to thank the restaurant for their partnership and support. It’s also important to thank your supporters for attending and contributing to the success of the event. This will help build a positive relationship with the restaurant and encourage them to partner with you again in the future.
